We rehearse weekly during term time and have a full schedule of concerts throughout the year. There’s a warm welcome awaiting new players in all sections.

Darvell Community Folk Band: As anyone who has visited us knows, we do a lot of singing at Darvell. We sing songs of praise and worship, hymns and carols, as well as songs borrowed from all around the world – songs covering all the seasons of the year. Some of these songs are written by people from Darvell, and some are just good old classics we love. We are really grateful to be a part of this amazing village and to be able to celebrate its rich history, so we would like to share some of the musical treasures from our repertoire with you.

Caroline Fernandes: is a freelance saxophone, flute and clarinet performer and teacher. In her own self-contained show she plays smooth jazz saxophone and flute with backing tracks at weddings, hotels and corporate events and is an established instrumental soloist and music educator.

For almost 10 years, Caroline was a professional multi-instrumentalist playing around the world on board 5-Star cruise ships, followed by 12 years performing and teaching in sunny Goa. She has also taught flute, clarinet, oboe and saxophone to pupils with ages ranging from 9 to adult, and run several woodwind ensembles.

Ellie Gooch: is currently studying Musical Theatre at East Sussex College. Her love for music began when she was just a little girl and spiralled, from putting on shows in front of her family in her very own home to singing at the Delaware Pavilion in Bexhill-on-sea and even the Shaftesbury Theatre in London to over 600 people! Ellie moved to the beautiful village of Robertsbridge three years ago and since then has made many amazing friends and memories and looks forward for what's to come within her music journey!

Liam Joseph: is a professional singer and and entertainer whose effortless style brings to life his extensive repertoire of classic swing, jazz and big band hits including those made famous by Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Nat King Cole and Michael Bublé.

Jo Fooks: a superb saxophonist/flautist who played for several years in Humphrey Lyttelton’s band. Jo has worked with Tina May, Joe Temperley, Scott Hamilton, Elkie Brooks and cites Illinois Jacquet, Sonny Rollins and Dexter Gordon as her main influences. “A brilliantly inventive player and composer” BBC RADIO 2

Line up: Jo Fooks (saxophone); Ted Beament (keyboard); Terry Pack (bass); Pete Beament (drums)

Kangaroo Juice: a high energy covers band that is renowned for getting audiences to their feet, singing and dancing the night away. Playing tracks from across the decades and genres and bringing the party to the people.

Rococo: is a friendly, informal, community choir which is focused on singing together and having fun. While being very much at the heart of the Robertsbridge community we also welcome members from the surrounding area. There are no auditions and many members do not read music. We learn very much by repetition and we are led by our wonderful choir leader, Gary Marriott. Our repertoire is very varied and includes Sea shanties, folk songs, Gospel and pop songs and most of what we sing is in 3 or 4 part harmony.

Salehurst String Quartet

The Bells of St. Mary's Church, Salehurst: probably on the site of a Saxon church, the building of the present church was begun by Simon de Etchyngham, a descendant of Reinbert who came to England with William the Conqueror, in the period 1220-1250. In 1309, Sir William de Etchyngham gave the advowson of Salehurst church to the Abbey of Robertsbridge. There is a peal of 8 bells mostly of 1771, and the tenor bell having been recast in 2006.
